Have a couple of questions after yesterdays hunts

Hey guys, i got out yesterday with the 75 and really got to use it. First stop was a ball field that gets alot of use. To get used to the machine i first did a default setting and used the notch so i would pickup from nickels forward.
One of my questions is once you have the notch set the way you want it where do you put the Discrim at afterwards? I had it set at 6. There was so many bottle caps it would hit on every sweep but after digging a few and noticeing the diffrent sound they made i got used to it "BC mode helped here". I did get some clad and what is its. Best find of the day was a dime and penny 7 in down in the same hole. Two solid but diffrent tones, that is really cool about this machine. Not far from the park there is a beach. I was able to GB in the dry sand and pickup some more clad. Going twards the water and wet sand it would not GB. Im going to have to learn a bit about how to set it up for beach hunting. I was able to hiy bottle caps at 10in down in the sand and dug them to be sure. All and all i love this machine. Im still a newb but it was easy to learn and use thanks to this foum.

Notch and Discrim. work together. By Notching OUT (not detected) both IRON Ranges ( 1 thru 7) (8 thru 15) and both FOIL Ranges (16 thru 20) (21 thru 25), you should see full slashes through the words IRON and FOIL at the top of the display. If you then turn the Discrim. to #6, you will still see full slashes through both words, i.e., IRON and FOIL but numbers 1 thru 6 are Notched back in (detected) and only #7 and Iron 8-15 and Foil 16-25 is Notched OUT (not detected).

Let's say you factory reset the F-75 and turn the Discrim to #6. Now you decide, for some reason, that you would like to Notch OUT (not detected) IRON low Range (1 thru 7) by selecting any number (1 thru 7) when you are in the Notch menu and pushing the Menu button. The only number that is Notched OUT (not detected) is #7 and numbers 1 thru 6 are Notched back IN (detected).

Factory reset the F-75 again which has Discrim at 10 and no Notch selected, even though the number 1 shows in the display when the Notch menu is selected. Those numbers in the display window when the Notch menu is selected are no indication that any Notch is selected. Those numbers only purpose are to help you select Notch Ranges i.e. IRON low 1-7 but are not an indication that any Notch is selected. So the number 1 in the display window when in the Notch menu after factory reset means nothing, Notchwise. It's just a number. Notice the full slash over the word IRON indicating that both low 1-7 and high 8-15 IRON are not detected. Now turn the Discrim to zero (0) and notice that the slashes disappear from the word IRON indicating that the IRON category is now detected. Now turn the Discrim to #65 and notice slashes through all categories i.e. IRON, FOIL NICKEL,TAB, ZINC which indicates all numbers in these categories are not detected.

Play with it a bit and you'll get used to it.
