well i figured out my 505 and had a ball at the freshwater beach. the machine was holding its own against a higher priced machine. i had trouble discing out a zinc, but it shows true on the zincs, as well as all modern clad. probably me, i don't disc much. the depth meter takes a steady movement, and is more accurate in the deeper range, but too that's probably me. the learning curve was actually easy, the machine light and battery friendly. pinpoint was easy to learn in all metal, tones loud. no jewelry found in this pull tab pit, but lots of clad that short trip. i will not hesitate to get another 505 i did trade it for an older machine that needed repair of another brand, and started that project. the older machine belonged to my mentor and he regretted selling it. i have two other of his machines. the new owner of the 505 will be pleased! he wanted modern, i wanted the old legend to repair. i will get another 505, and hope i renewed interest for this nice guy. the X brand was listed at half what the 505 sells for and its twenty yrs old. but its me, and sentiment counts. i have some of its cousins. i will acquire the tracker IV by next summer i hope for salt water. thanks again Dave J and when is your dedicated salt water machine coming out-- hint hint? like make us a beach hunter Dave J! name it the SALTY SAND HANDLER!
