Has anyone waterproofed an F75 for shallow water hunting?

During the hot summer months, I detect shallow (wading) rivers where people float on inner tubes. My water machines discriminate with tone only. My detecting buddy has a Garrett AP Pro that really works well in this environment.

I'd try the F75, but I'm afraid I might goof up and get water in either the battery compartment or main electrical housing.

Just wondering if anyone had tried to waterproof an F75, and if so, how did you do it and how well did it work?

Not sure I would chance getting that machine dropped in the water. I would get a cheaper unit with all of the electronics in one housing than just wrap a plastic bag on it and go to town

You know, I bet a regular eurotek all sealed up would be an excellent little water unit in fresh water. They are less than 175 new shipped. I would go that route. It has vdi and a little depth read out too. No pinpoint button but you really do not need that

I'm thinking about biting the bullet and getting a used AT PRO. They're going for about $350-400 used right now.

Greg, the A T Pro is what I use when actually getting out in the water. I particularly like it for fresh water hunting. And, pretty good dad gummed land detector, too. Just not as deep as the F 75. HH jim tn

There are a lot of good used water machines out there at a reasonable price. If I were you, I would find one and snap it up. The F75 is a great detector and I would never think about trying to make it waterproof. With the battery department and speaker built into the arm cuff and the control box in another location, there are wires running through the shaft and that would really create a big problem for making it waterproof. It is just too good of a land detector to mess with trying to make waterproof. And if you try it and fail, you could only use it for a boat anchor. I do not think you would want to do that!
