Has anyone used the underwater scopes in finding jewelry in the water ?

Im thinking about getting one and curious about them, thanks hank

Lost here Hank BUT, since I dive and can see everything, In 6 years I have only seen one ring on top of the sand. Everything else has been buried. I have found cash, sunglasses, and bottles on top.

Questions come to mind. What kind of scope are you talking about? How deep are you going to look? and why don't you get a mask and fins and just search the top of the sand? Or am I missing something on what your calling a scope? Inquiring minds want to know!!

I found them on eBay I think there used for gold nugget hunting from what I gather, it's a 4" tube that has a lense on the bottom so one is able to view under water, but you made a great point that I didn't think about, that most rings are buried and unable to see, HH hank

Seriously, you will find good things on top of the sand. One bottle I found I sold for 450.00. but if you have a mask and snorkel and fins you can hover over the bottom and see a lot. Sunglasses don't sink but rings and chains get covered FAST unless its hard packed sand and the person that lost it didn't notice it missing or the water was dirty when they lost it and a person saw it when the water cleaned up.

The case with the ring I saw on top, it was a mans wedding ring, I saw it and thought NO WAY! Picked it up and it was 14K gold on hard packed sand. I did also one day find a ring, 1901 ladies class ring while talking to another detectorist. I was looking down and saw the outline of a ring in the clay. I said "What the heck?" Bent down and picked it up. BOY was he mad. Swears I planted it. I would never have done that but he has his beliefs.

Anyway a scope would probably be a total waste of money. snorkeling with a detector is awesome in 3' of water or less. No scoop needed and you can see lots of interesting things.

Thanks SD for your input, I will do as you suggested and snorkel with the detector, haha funny story I bet he was shocked you found the ring, thanks , hank

yep, a snorkel, mask and detector would be 100 times better.

Thanks guys, I knew were to ask to get professional opinion about, glad I did before getting it! Thanks SD and Seeker41
