Has anyone used the 4.5x7" DD Excelerator coil?

And how does it perform. Any great depth, does it work in very high mineralized ground. Is it as good or better then the 6x8 sef? GS

Its a great little performer. Does well at separation and depth was decent. I like elliptical shaped coils and find myself still using this in heavy trashy sites and the 5x10dd NEL coil as my main coil.

I used a 6" Excellerator coil for two years - hunted with mine for well over 1000 hours - what a fantastic coil - many 7" to 8" Dimes, etc - then it shorted out.
This Spring I replaced 6" with a 4.5" x 7" ... I love it - same if not better performance as 6" - but it seems even better at getting into tight spots and overgrown areas.
Both of these coils separate very well in heavy iron - get great depth, pinpoint like lasers and are light enough that you can swing them all day !

A lot of my hunts are in the woods and in overgrown areas - so I went with the 6" and the 4.5" x 7" coils because of their closed design - less hang ups on brush then the open spoke coils.
I've never used a 6" x 8 but everyone that has one say's their fantastic - many users say that the 6" x 8" will hit as deep, or almost as deep as the stock Pro coil.

I dug a 1838 Large Cent at a measured 9" with the 4.5" x 7"coil a few weeks ago.

The bottom line - it seems like any coil made by Detech is a winner !

*** Here's a link to Bryce Brown's ( moderator of the Explorer forum ) field tests of different coils - (including the 6" - 4" x 7" and 6"x 8" s) - tons great info. here!
