Has anyone used both the Infinium and Sea Hunter?

Are they about equal in performance or is the Infinium a bit better? I see it comes with a larger coil, otherwise the controls seem to be about the same?

Well I have done a ton of reading and comparing and listening to others regarding just that question. I guess it all boils down to what kind of hunting are you planning on doing with it? If salt water (shallow or deep) and beach, then the Sea Hunter is great, but it is a single tone machine with a double beep on bobby pins. The Infinium I have heard is tougher to stabilize in some areas like the west coast California if you plan to hunt in the surf, but has a High/Low or Low/High tones depending on the metal it is detecting. The Sea Hunter is not a good choice if you want to prospect, where as the Infinium was designed for just that. If you want a simple to operate, stable, reliable machine, then get the Sea Hunter. If you want to prospect and have the ability to hunt salt surf (but with some noise possibly) then get the Infinium. Both do very well in fresh water I have heard with a slight edge in the Infiniums favor because of audible discrimination (tones). Good luck to you in your decision. I just got the Sea Hunter myself and am happy I did, although I did consider the Infinium very carefully.

Thanks for the info Lightstryder. This is for mostly ocean beach wet sand hunting with some salt water wading also. no prospecting and rarely if at all for fresh water.

Sounds like me, I decided on the Sea Hunter for a couple of reasons. Firstly it's cheaper to get into a good machine, and it is simpler to operate for the type of hunting I am going to be doing, i.e. scuba diving, shallow wading, and general beach hunting. I do want to get into prospecting at some point, but it doesn't have priority at this time for me. Anyway good luck again in your decision.

That pretty much sums it up........It's hard to beat Garrett PI units.

Seems you can't go wrong with either one, just need to pick the one that suits you conditions.

Todd 4R your Hunting type you made a good choice on the Sea Hunter, Did you get to take it out yet Let me know how it gos, Mickfin

Air test and wet sand test are ok in Maryland if you live there ,but in Fla. those test many nothing the sand and water are defferent. If you are goimg to hunt wet sand and have a lot of ironin the aera use the Infinium it will not pick up rust ,the sea hunter will. But make shore you use the 10 x 14 mono coil for both fresh and salt water. The infinium has a learning carveto it but not to bad.1 thing you will need is a very good scoop because both detectors go very, very deep. Like I have said in some of my pasted thread bring your Passport you might need it to get out of the hole you dig.
