Has anyone used a Tesoro Stingray and what is your opinion/tips on using one...

got a used one at a great price and from a reliable source so couldn't turn it down. I'll be using it 99% of the time on inland freshwater lakes.

It only has the 8 inch coil - not able to change them like the Stingray II or the Tiger Shark is capable of doing but heard it is more reliable than the Stingray II and loads cheaper than the Tiger Shark.

Thanks and God bless you and yours

Have used the stingray, stingray II and now the tiger shark. They are all good machines, and I think the stingray does about as good as the tiger shark.

The Stingray works different than the newer Tiger Shark because it is a TR type detector while the Tiger Shark is a VLF where the coil has to be in motion to discriminate. These are the only detectors that I have used that will report on a thin gold chain.

The Stingray has lots of trouble at a saltwater beach in the wet sand or anywhere near the waves while the Tiger Shark doesn't have any trouble.
