Has anyone used a Hotfoot coil on the MXT?

Got one coming in the mail in a few days and was wondering what others think of the coil. Will be doing some head to head testing against my XTerra 70 w. the HF 5x10" DD coil for coins/rings and small nuggets. Did real good with my previous MXT (w. 5x10"DD) in Ak. and lake/beach hunting in Osoyoos. Supposedly, the hotfoot is more sensitive (and deeper) than the mini shooter coil. ...Willy.

I've used a hotfoot on my mxt for about 1.5 years. It's the only coil i use. It's DD type, has very good target separation, and very good depth. I use it a lot in shallow water(no problems of any kind). My particular one pinpoints under the x on top of the coil(not in the Middle). You can also pp a dd coil by pulling it back(while holding the trigger)until the signal dissapears, then the target will be at the front edge of the coil.

On my previous MXT I used the 6x10" DD coil and was finding bits of gold down to about 1/3 grain.. was wondering how the hotfoot would compare depthwise and for small targets to both the 6x10" and the 3x7" coils. I'll find out anyway, but it's a waiting game right now and I'm bored. 'sides, others out there might want to know. ..Willy.

Hi Willy
Looking forward to your small coil shoot-out test results on the MXT.
Your posts are always very informative on equipment performance.
I have the Hotfoot coil and it is one of my favorites for how it has performed. On the pole, it is a feather. As a hand probe it has been a deep seeker in holes for direction ( relic and prospect modes both used each test) and indicating distance by overloading.
Cannot comment on the depth as compared to other small coils, but it is a smart coil configuration ( mini 2 box? ).

Got the Hotfoot a few days ago and it was a dud! Something wrong with the coil insofar as, most times, it wouldn't GB. If I tapped the coil or wiggled the strain relief, 50% of the time it would settle down and 'maybe' work okay. Sent er back and getting a mini shooter DD coil. Don't have the time to play around with defective stuff (also costs me to ship). Wasn't the detector or location 'cause the stock coil ran smooth as silk at max gain and my 2 other detectors had no problem (though the X70 couldn't be run at full gain). ..Willy.

Bummer.
Interesting note you made on the 'terra. I like to run my coils hot- as hot as the machine can go, back off for ID and try the other modes for lerning what they say.
Thanks

those tiny and/or deep targets. There's a reason why I was getting 1/3 grai nuggets(?) with my MXT in AK.. the sensitivity was pegged at max, along with the Hypersat. The ground was running at 86+ and, with the 6x10" DD I still managed to go deep; 12" on a 1 oz'er. I've always wondered about guys that nuggethunt who run at presets and low gain. The ol' 'high-beams blinding you' never held much water with me. As far as I'm concerned a little bit of DSP can clean out the majority of the cr@p and the best DSP resides between the ears. End of rant. ..Willy.
