Has anyone tried this detector, the 1030?

I've heard some very impressive things about these American Hawk detectors. I know most will say cheap chineese junk but some very experienced detectorists have used this models litlle brother (the $69 model) and gave it pretty good reviews. Looks like they get decent depth and someone said they actually get better depth than advertised. Anyway has anyone used this particular model the HP-1030? I'd be interested in their thoughts on this machine.

Hay Lovepulltabs,

I have not used this machine, but it has the same specs as

a Bounter Hunter for about the same price.

Bounty Hunter gets good reviews also.

I would check to see if it's American made. If it is, it was probably

made by BH.

If it was made in China. Well, I wouldn't touch it.

Happy Hunting,

Tabdog

You may try asking over on the Geo forum to see if anyone there has used one, guys from all over the world post there. There is always more concern about quality with these detectors but if you don't mind taking a chance....

Well it sure looks similar to a bounty hunter. I am pretty sure these are chineese made detectors. The chineese electronics are already in Fisher, Whites and maybe more American made detectors. There are cheap chineese detectors out there, but I believe these detectors to be of a fairly decent quality and decent electronics. I suppose the only way to find out for sure is to buy one and try it out. Hopefully someone that has used one of these detectors will give an evaluation.

The one thing that stands out when I read the specs is the weight, five pounds gets heavy in a hurry well balanced or not.
