Has anyone tried the Pro coil on an Explorer II?

The pro coil fits all explorers... and you may have to go to the explorer forum and lookup some of the reviews when it first came out. Id dare say more have the Pro or SEF coil on now than a standard coil. The standard coil for the explorer was a sought after coil especially after the SE came out and the initial coil seemed to have some noise issues... which i beleave were fixed in about a year. I use and SE and SEF, but I have a friend that uses an XS and swears by it. Are you looking to purchase or having problems? As far as opinions... one of the best all around improvements minelab has made in some time... or any detector company. Ive noticed even whites saw the benefits of finding a coil that matched the detector without going too big.

I too swing the Explorer II with the standard coil, I am interested in hearing the advatages of the pro coil. I have heard that it is lighter.

I think the biggest complaint has been from the Relic hunters about it catching on everything... that said its more sensitive, quieter with a little higher sensitivity setting, lighter, easier to pinpoint, and better balanced. With any coil that isnt standard the depth may read a little off... and you deffently get a better TID at the same depth than with the standard. Those not using the Pro are using the SEF. Id give the edge in sensitivity to the Pro on smaller targets and its lighter than the SEF... but i dont think you will find its any better on coins or deeper ... not to mention the SEF is about $50 cheaper if that makes a difference.

Thanks for the advice Dew. Actually, I've ordered the Pro coil for my Explorer II and just wanted to see how folks thought the EX II and the Pro coil matched up as far as compatability. Do you have any idea as to how far back I'd have to go to find those reviews on the coil you mentioned on your 1st reply?

Hi Steve, I ordered mine today and as soon as I get to experience it, I'll let you know...

Curious did you order a new one or were you able to find one used. Wondering about how much they cost.
