Has anyone tried the new proformance coil on their older GTI1500?

That 9 1/2" imaging coil sure used to get unstable at high sensitivity. The slightest touch of that coil against a tree would sound off the machine, quite often a belltone sound. Now it was a good coil, and sometimes you had to go over a target several times to actually ID it as a target and not falsing.

I got one of those new coils last years and immediately noticed how much more stable it was in the woods. The new coil is also built a lot tougher then the older white one. If you get an opportunity to get the new coil for the 1500, go for it.

My friend at work got a new 2500 with the new coil on it. He said he has trouble with it sounding off when he bumps it on things. I told him that the new coil was to take care of that problem. He runs it at the presets. I told him to bump the sensitivity down a little and try it then.

Tell him to bump the sensitivity down to 6 or 6.5 and leave it there for awhile. Also tell him to crank the threshold down to a very faint hum.
