every time i see an mxt on a vid eo ,very rarely do i see a the 950 coil on it,even WHITE'S own video moves riight to the 6x9 before the demo is over.

The 950 conical is a great loop in the neutral to mild ground and can even be used in highly mineralized ground if you have a good ear. In highly mineralized ground or in trashy conditions, the better choice is the 6X10 DD or the 10" DD for the best separation and sometimes better depth than the 950. It is nice to have a selection of loops to choose from for getting the best from your detector.

Larry is 100% right, all I can say is for a all purpose coil the 6 X 10 DD rules................:whites:....................:clapping:

Hey Bowser, I love your avatar..........:smoke:

i have JUST ABOUT every coil made for the mxt ,except the fairly new 10"d.d. coil ,but there is a coil that will blow away all coils :yikes:have had it for a week and wow:bouncy:yep, guys its the SEF. 10 X 12 BUTTERFLY D.D.COIL ----it has better ground balance, more stable, deeper than all the other coils, better pin-pointing and more accurate target I.D.TRY IT YOU WILL LOVE IT!!:clapping:

Everything that Larry said is true. However, Nancy hunts with the 9.5 every time I've hunted with her except when she uses the bigfoot. We've all seen how well she does. Each coil has it's place and what area of the country you hunt in makes a difference. I know the 9.5 runs quieter for me than the 10", but the 10" is deeper. The 6x10 seems to be maybe the most popular coil for the MXT but I know 3 EXPERTS (really they are) who don't use it. The 6x10 isn't as popular with the DFX users. EMI doesn't seem to bother the 6x10 with the MXT, but is not as deep as the 9.5.

The 10" works great for me. The SEF is heavier. How much deeper it is than the 10" I don't know. I got a loaner to try. I'll let you know later. Rob

I have the 4X6 DD eclipse shooter coil and the Super 12 Coil and like them both. I had the 6X10 and wasn't impressed.

Remember the MXT software is basically geared to the 950 coil.anything larger or smaller you will get depth readings that aren't as accurate as the stock coil.
I haven't tried the new 10"DD coil,,,,but i want one:super:
That butterfly looks like two 6X10's interlaced and has my curiosity going, and i wonder how heavy it is.
This is my opinion only and will possibly get disagreements from my findings.

THANKS 1 FORUM I JOINED REFUSED IT SO I LEFT.

Bowz, If you get a chance, try the 4X6 it is a terror in tot lots and anywhere that has a lot of targets.Annnnnnnd it doesn't weight much.you can detect for a long time without having to rest.It is my main coil, and i use the super 12 in open areas like play grounds away from the swingsets etc. I have been finding a lot of coins. It took me a while, but i finally made the assumption that at one time, some type of fair or carnival was held there.Average depth 7 inches some much deeper close to a foot which makes a lesche tool useless.I have to loosen the soil then lift it out with my hand onto a towel LOL. 57 years old and still playing in the dirt :detecting:

LOL you two. I hear this noise,,,and now i know what it is.It's your bones starting to fossilize LOL:clapping:

In my case,,,,Brain says i'm 35,,,,,,,body says i'm 75,,,,actually i'm 57....

ask him what he uses on his V-3, or what coil he found his gold coin with

I don't say things just because I'm a White's dealer JW. I call things the way I see them. That is why White's asked me to work on the V3 project with them, knowing that I'm NOT a "yes man". I'm equally adept at swinging my Minelab Pro SE as I am a White's product. I'm using the White's 950 on my V3 right now and I had the SEF 10X12 on the V3 the day I found the gold coin, but any detector/coil combination would have found a gold coin at 4 inches if someone would have dug a pull tab signal, VDI +43. I have also used many, many other coil/ detector combinations. I intentionally did not say Excelerator or White's when I said the 10" DD is a good coil choice. As many on this forum and DFX forum could attest, I have endorsed the Excelerator 10DD as a good value coil for the MXT/DFX, but the White's V series D2 is the coil of choice for the V3 until Excelerator nulls their coils for optimum V3 operation.

I don't expect any Whites dealer to respond any differently, Except when I get an email like this
"I have been thinking about buying one of the New White's Spectra V3's, But White's told me that some of After Market Search Coil can Damage It! Are the 18x15" SEF Butterfly Search Coil for White's Calibrated for the New White's Spectra V3's Yet?"

As most know a coil cannot damage a detector unless it has a separate power supply hooked to the coil, but there are some Distributor/Dealers that want to make a sale so bad that they will lie to a customer. And yes, the Excelerator people are going to try calibrating coils for the V-3. Shouldn't be to hard for Ex-Soviet Rocket Scientists.

Have a good weekend,
JW

I would have to have a name from the White's source to validate your claim JW. I'm sure it didn't come from the engineering team I was working with. My early work on the V project was coil compatibility and performance and my only complaint on the Excelerator coils that I worked with was the overload condition I got with the Boost feature turned on.

Since this is off-topic here on the MXT forum, we could continue this on the V3 forum or PM's.

Better this is. Otherwise some known BIG names will be damaged. (for sure)
