Has anyone here owned an SE Pro? What are some benefits of the E-trac

Hi,

I have owned multiple machines over the years and keep going back to minelab. I loved my soverign xs-2a pro and then got an explorer xs and felt like it was an awesome machine. I have an xs now and want to upgrade to a newer version that is better balanced and has a faster processor. I am looking into an se pro or the e-trac and was wondering what some of the main things actual users are discovering between the two.

Thanks,
Travis Quinn

I have owned the XS, EX II, SE Pro and 2 Etracs. I loved using each one. The Etrac is a bit more stable than the latter, it has a larger range of Ferrous and Conductive numbers, it has a larger screen and for some the change in the handle angle is liked better. All of these apply for me also.

Now the BIG thing I liked better with the Explorer was the sound. With my ears as bad as they are I could hear a much higher pitch for the silver. As far as the iron discrimiation goes, for me I found MORE coins soaked in the iron than I do with the Etrac! Some here may roll there eyes at that but its just the way it was for me.

What would I suggest?

Get the Etrac and don't look back.

I bought 2 Explorers because I looked back.

Just my 2 cents

I like both and have both now.

what I like about the etrac over the explorer:
larger screen
faster processor
menu setup

what I like about the explorer over the etrac:
screen target layout(this could be a comfort thing from using the explorers so long)
rod angle is more relaxed

I find both detectors to get about the same depth, have about the same sounds.
they are both great detectors

I have owned both and since switching to the E-trac my old coin finds have exploded!!

Loved my SE Pro, love my E-Trac much more!

Pretty much a repeat of what you've read already. I like the faster processor and the E-Trac seems more stable. I really like the balance better. The SE used to hurt my back after a few hours where I can run my E-Trac all day with no pains. I've also pulled a lot of deep old coins from the same areas where my SE Pro stopped delivering.

Hey Jeff in PA, just a thought here. I used my E-trac for months with the threshold pitch set at 15, but discovered (finally) that by boosting the pitch up to 29 or 30, the silver tones were much easier for me to hear. Everyone is different, but that made a huge difference for me.

Thanks for the suggestion but I have mine at 30.
