Has anyone had this happen to their E-Trac??

You turn it on.
You get a message on the screen: Over-voltage
And then the machine just shuts down automatically.

I tried 2 different rechargeable packs and the alkaline pack.
I disconnected the coil. It keeps doing it.

Nothing makes a difference.

Thanks.

no, just want to sympathize. that sucks. time to send it in for sure, might as well not wait. i would check the pack voltage with a meter just to be sure but i severely doubt 3 different packs could all be too high.

I've had this happen several times when hunting. It can be frustrating. The only thing that worked for me was to pop the battey cover, release the battery catch and pull battery out a couple of inches then let drop back in, sometimes I "gently" (so to speak) add a little force to the drop.

I hope this is clearer than mud, but it did allow me to get back to hunting. It also seems like it happens when I switch the Sunray probe on or off, and if I remember right always with a fully charged battery.

Hope you can get it resolved. If you send it in, please let us know what they say.

Only had it happen once and that was with a Alkaline battery pack. Took it out and put the rechargeable pack in and went right on hunting. When I got home I threw the Alkaline batteries away and put in new ones and It never happened again.

I would for sure contact Minelab, this cannot be normal by any means. Rick IL.

As long as your akaline pack did indeed have akaline batteries and not lithium batteries and you got overload indication, you indeed have a problem. Better get that one to the doctor ASAP.

Check the springs for corrosion.

Only once and that was when I was using lithium batteries. I ran the lithium batteries down a little bit to take the edge off and they were fine.

I need to add a postscript to this and that is mine always happened with the rechargable batteries. In fact I've never even used the pack that holds the store bought batteries.
