Read all those books except the one by Mr. Crouch. Heading to a used book sale tomorrow and they have 90,000 books, maps, atlases and dvd, vhs for sale and hope some of them are what I'm looking for. Especially the history books and old maps. They do get you fired up, but my fire has burned low the last two years. Went to the river and found 3 pennies in the water and 5 on land, but found out about a park I wasn't familiar with and hope to try it next week. Forgot my scoop and chest waders and had to drive back home again and when I got to the river, the caretaker's house which used to be an old store had been torn down. Had I known this I wouldn't have made the 28 mile round trip back to the house, but they had fill dirt dumped at this location and it was full of metal. Went down the path we kids used in the early 60's to the store and found 5 pennies including one fused by heat into a piece of metal of rock. Neighbor came over and talked to me about an hour and killed the rest of the detecting time I had, but advised me of the other park which made this great conversation. Sometimes we get frustrated about people taking up our limited detecting time, but all these books mentioned say talk to the older folks and I hope this park has some good finds and it has a swim area as well and might be untouched. Good luck & happy hunting.
