Has anyone ever found a meteorite while relic hunting?

If so what did you do with it? Keep it or sell it?

I haven't but have a friend that found three of them in a short period of time while gold nugget hunting out on the desert in AZ.----He sent them in to a university for verification and I think he donated them to that university.---------Del

That's nice to donate it, myself I would have it cut in halves and sold them!

I;VE heard there worth $20;000 not sure

Yelp I would have sold them for 20,000$ for sure and for certain!!

A small one. about the size of a golf ball, about 15 years ago and found out that not all meteorites are worth thousands of dollars. I took it to a guy from MS State University who knew about meteorites and he said it was a Mesosiderite, whatever that is, and only worth four or five dollars at most. I checked online and mesosiderites about the same size were being offered for less than $5 so he was evidently right. I sold it to a local guy, he also said it was a Mesosiderite, who collects meteorites for $6.
