Has Anyone Ever Been Asked To Take Their Metal Detector To Work?:smoke:

I have twice been asked to search for lost jewelry on the hospital premises where I work as a Registered Nurse, and once to search for an old manhole cover (where did the name manhole cover come from?) under the asphalt in the parking lot. I did find the ring, and wasn't lucky with the manhole cover. Go figure eh:shrug:

Yup....I was asked to find a water meter box at a college where I was working. While on my way home to fetch it, I got a call saying they found it.

I was an insurance adjuster and was asked by an insurance company to find an expensive watch lost at a horse farm once. Did not find the watch or anything else of any value, but got to bill for the time. Now if I could only bill for the hours I spend at the beach ...

I was also asked to find a watch. a ROLEX at that, but had no luck. I got paid $60.00 for looking for it, as it was out of town on an acreage.

I loaned my detector to a guy to take out to the desert to search for a ring he'd lost there the previous weekend. When he returned the detector he said he'd had no luck finding his ring. A couple of days later he told me his wife found the ring in their car! Go figure.

Boss called me on my way home from work one day and asked if i would look for a possible curb box water shut off under parking lot and lawn... took sov gt with 14in coil which would have hit it easily at 2ft deep or less.. didnt find it because it probably doesn't exist but got paid for time so all good...

Those are easier to locate if electrically energized. I was hired to find the same thing at a sports field once, had touble too. The installer came with a device which picked up the EMI from the energized box. I got paid and learned how to find them if asked again. EMI is easy.

Those boxes only hold insulated wiring and a small solanoid so a detector run normally is a trick. I got paid and learned something.
