Has Anyone Been In Their Excal 800/1000??

I replaced my Excal 800 8 inch coil with a 10 inch coil. I did the same as an earlier owner of the machine and did a solder/splice/waterproof. I don't like it.

I have removed the end cap where the battery connection and coil leads are and have a question. Does the coil lead squeeze through the connector on the plastic lid or does that actually unscrew off the cap? It looks like it is a fitting with a nut. I know how to do small detailed solder work and want to go ahead and get rid of the splice and reconnect it to the board but I am not sure how to remove the coil strain relief/waterproof plug for the coil.

Thanks!

Hey Ron, I'm sure if you call Minelab USA, and ask to talk to Robert the Excalibur Tech, he will answer any questions you have about your project. I hope your detector was out of warranty, before you tampered with it. Best of luck, and I hope you get all your questions answered. HH
