Has anybody been able to use the upper scale signal strength indicator to help ID a target with any Garrett machine?

I heard about this one, but so far have only found it as useful as the needle one on my tracker 4 (not much use!). If it was anywhere near as good as I heard, then it would be dynamite.

I just use the audio....much faster.

Basically it is designed to center your target right on the button.

Yeah, the cursor is your ID indicator, the signal strength bars are to pinpoint the target, center coil.

I could be wrong, though, (you guys mark your calender, as the day I said THAT). Has something changed and CAN the strength bars be used for ID???

Yeah. I thought so.I was wondering out the GTP's and the GTI's. Somebody was having a bit of a lend of me. I'll go and put my dunce hat on now.

Yeah long ago, before tectors had discrimination, most had a signal strength meter. Course it responded to all targets, junk or good. Now it works great for centering and pinpointing.
