Has any of you ever switched the Excal BBS coil to a Tornado coil?...........

1. Why did you do this?
2. Could you tell a significant advantage, i.e.(depth, sensitivity, weight).
3. Does the coil stay on the bottom or try to float up, causing coil control issues?
4. Is this coil more advanced of a design over the BBS?
5. Overall opinions of the switch. Say what you think.

I have the Excal 800. I got a 10-in Tornado coil, and put it on.

At the time, I couldn't tell a difference in depth, since I use the Excal only in the water and couldn't really see how deep I was digging. But I am sure there has to be a slight difference between the 8-inch and 10-inch coils.

Weight was not a real issue, but the lack of weight is. I am pretty sure that the 8-inch BBS is about an ounce heavier than the 10-inch Tornado.

Since I made the change I love the Excal even more for the the beach. I also use the Sovereigns (Elite and GT), and I feel I have any situation covered. My relic hunting activeties take me to places where single frequency machines fail, so the Sov/Excal machine is tops in my hunting areas.

My coil swap was more for area coverage than anything else. I think the smaller coils should really be used for diving, but that's just my opinion.
