26 this morning when the A T Pro, my hunting buddy and I started hunting. And immediately I started harvesting wheat cents. All in all, I recovered 18 of them this morning, which, excluding the 2 Mercury dimes I also dug, exactly equaled all the other cents and clad I recovered. Among the wheats, I dug a 1920s Merc and a clipped 41. I can't recall ever recovering 18 wheat cents in one outing.
The first picture, excluding 7 wheats, is the best of my hunt yesterday. It was nice to see the 09 Barber partially sticking out of the clod.
5 of the wheat cents are toast and no available dates. The 6 oldest were 10, 18, 22, 2x27 and a 30. The rest were 40's and 50's.
When I spotted the 1922 I thought, "no way." And I was right. With a little more soap and water q tip rubbing, I found the D. Even in tough condition, it would have been a neat find. I believe it is a weak D, but being dug, it doesn't make a great deal of difference.
Stay warm if you are able to get out. HH jim tn
