Harris County precinct 4 detecting ban petition

Mr. Beard

Member
Some of the area parks in Harris County Texas have banned the use of metal detectors. Here is a link to a petition to try and get the ban removed.

After you sign it might go to a 2nd page ( at random) and ask for donations, you do not have to donate to the petition website. Just use the back arrow to get off the page.

Please, if you metal detect, we need your signature even if you don't live anywhere near Texas.

Thank you all.

There are lots of you that haven't signed this petition. I know you are out there just waiting to sign.

If it were your park areas, you would want everyone to help you out.

Please help us try and get our park areas open again. Go to the link, sign and comment about the good metal detecting does in park areas.
Thank you.

I tried to sign the Petition this evening and left a request. The site is not accepting petition signatures. goldnugget-Charlotte,North Carolina

The site is still accepting signatures and comments.

It requires a name and email ( for verification only) and if you want to comment please do so.
Cick on the "sign petition" button and it is done. It might randomly go to a 2nd page and ask for donations to the petition website. You DO NOT have to donate to sign this petition.
Just use the back arrow to get off of that donation page. It might take a few minutes for your name to show up on the signature list.

For those who read and forgot to sign and comment on the petition, here is the link again. And remember you don't have to pay to sign.

Thanks for your support.

Saw this on another detecting forum. I live near Houston. I petitioned!

Thank you very much.:clapping:

The county commissioners revised the rules. as of May 1, 2009, now ALL Harris County, county parks have prohibited the use of metal detectors in any of their parks.

If you haven't signed the petition in the first post please .....please...click on the link ---sign and comment.

I added the following to the petition in comments. Cities seem to understand things better when converted to dollars.

The city of Houston will know that I will NOT be spending my vacation money in their town any more due to your ban on detecting. My wife and I enjoy the hobby of metal detecting and it is a BIG part of our vacations. We are only two people and I'm only talking about a few thousand dollars spent in your area, but I'm sure there are more people like us. The tourist dollars make a big impact for most cities and towns, good or bad. Someone should ask how much economic impact will this ban affect our tourism and how much damage, if any, are a few hobbyist doing to our parks? Is this ban helping us or hurting us?
