Hard work, very little pay....

Went for my traditional monday spin. Light N winds this morning as I began my spin at a little after 7a. Tide was still way out and was hunting a little further west to start. The low was at 911a -0.6L. Ended up with a mother lode of pull tabs (may have set a personal record), 1 quarter and the tri-hoop earring. Left that beach area around 11a and headed a little further east in search of loot. Found it to be equally sanded in and got $1.07 and the little .925 charm (heart, anchor & cross). Quit around 330pm and I was a whipped pirate.

Hey GH: my dad was confined to a wheel chair the last 10 years of his life. He was relatively young when he died. When I start to think about all of the junk I dig on a cold, blistery day I just remember that he would have loved to be able to dig pull tabs all day if he could. He loved to detect but his health just was shot. SO when I have a pull tab day I just say this ones for you dad! I guess I'm like a lot of people who just take day to day activities for granted. We all need to be thankful that we can get out and about and rid the world of all those nasty beer cans and tabs!

I know what you mean - I was out today for 3.5 hours, and got $6.52, but 109 of the coins were super corroded pennies that the other hunters throw down to the water line. There are also several hunters who don't pick up their trash. They hunt every day - how many times do they want to pick up that penny/trash???????

Look at it this way GH... The more garbage you get out of the sand and water the better chance you have of finding the deeper whispers of the good stuff :) And you're doing your part to clean up our environment :) We all find that junk its the cruddy side of our hobby...

Hey- a bad day at the beach always beats a great day in the office!
I always count pull tabs as odds - the more you dig, the better your odds of striking gold on the next one!
Hope to bump into you down there some day.

You have passed my way, thank you, somtimes I need a reality check on why I do this. I know that I'm not going to be able to retire from my loot take. It's nice just to get out and treasure hunt and completely forget about the world and it's troubles. Hey if I find something, that's a BONUS. Health is 1 of the main reasons I am able to do these things and of course a wife who is a fellow pirate helps as well, as well as my Valentine, I must confess!
