Hard time with Computers

OK everyone, sure this has been asked a million times on this forum. I'm finally going to try the computer hardware, and try downloading some programs. I struggle with my confidence in computers and have used Beep Goes On basic program from a few years ago. So I think I'm right in saying you can't use a Mac for this hardware, just a personal computer? I have a Dell I can bring home from work. So I download the CD, then use the cable to connect the Etrac to it. What would be next? How do you download a specific program once you have the hardware. Sorry. but my confidence with computers isn't great, but really want to learn this and get some of these great programs. Thanks in advance. Des in Buffalo

It's been a while, about a year, but as I remember--I just down loaded the program that I wanted to a file, connected the E-Trac to the computer, powered up the ET, went to the file with the program, opened the file, right clicked on the program, went to copy, then went to "my computer" which showed the ET as a drive, right clicked on the drive for the ET and hit paste. Not positive about the last actions, EITHER watch the screen on the ET, when it shows "updated" powered down. OR, (If you sit there for a couple of minutes and the ET does not say "updated") unplug it from the computer, then wait for it to say "updated", then power down the detector. I didn't use the CD. Hope this helps.
