Hard Ground Standing

Finds are from past couple weeks on 2 Saturday "day" hunts. I used online snow maps and headed a couple hours or so south
to give myself the best chance at somewhat "diggable" conditions.
The ground wasn't too bad 2 weeks ago but was very hard yesterday as winter storms had rolled through earlier in the week.
1 fairground and a few city parks were hit.

I used the NEL Thunder coil yesterday. The old quarter was on edge and made my day when I saw it come out of the hole.
It was giving me quarter numbers @ 7-8 inches but wasn't that loud of a signal as it was next to iron.
The toasted 1888 Indian was a signal I chased because it was deep. It read way lower (12-30) because it was so encrusted.
I decided to display the crushed cup item as it has some ornateness. It read like a large quarter.

Digging conditions were difficult to say the least but I got some great exercise and a break from the long winter.

Coin Finds
Worn Standing Liberty Quarter appears to be 1928
Silver dimes are 1951,1952

18 Wheat pennies (1910 oldest)
Canadian penny is 1958
Kennedy Half dollar is 1971

Non Coin Finds

couple small heart pendants
a few small buttons
Model T valve stem cover
Old crushed cup

And I'm glad I'm down in southern Wisconsin. Much warmer than there and have a furnace instead of wood heat.

Hope to make it your way this summer and detect with you guys.

Hey Chris,
yes it has been a tough spring so far with more snow expected this weekend.
I have heard the story from James a few times about when you found
a 1922 plain wheat penny up here when you were hunting with him.
What a great find that was.

A very nice bunch of finds - congrats !
Love those SLQ's - what classic looking old coins !

Nice! I am going out for a couple of hours today. The fields are muddy so I can't stay out long. Looks like more rain and cold after today!

Great recovery on that SLQ FPD. I love seeing those come out of the hole. Glad you were finally able to get out.
