Harbor Frieght Pinpointer review and finds today

Today I took the MD out for a stroll at a baseball diamond. I used my MXT for this one.
Found lots of nickels and dimes and some junk. I had five targets that gave me trouble;
Could not find them. The Cheapo pinpointer found them but it did take a little probeing around.
Two of the targets I could not find at all. Am I unhappy? No. For $15.00 the pinpointer got the job done.
Would a more expensive pinpointer found the other two? I don't know. This is the first time for me useing one.

Someone mentioned that they had a cheapo that you almost had to TOUCH the target to get it to squeal.
That was not the case with my targets but close, with one of them. I had to set the sensitivity up to finally
get the target.

Remember, when you use this device, it is cheap so don't get discouraged if you don't always find
your target.

Good Luck
Happy Hunting.

very cool i also am a newbie at using a pinpointer but WOW what a difference. it really cut back the digging time for me. nice finds...

Got a friend that works there,, I need to get one of those cheapies,, my problems are nickles,, for some reason I cant pinpoint the things,, i call them a worm with a collar on it,, (chasing it around the hole)

I wish I could say that the pinpoint probe is a magic wand but it is not, at least sometimes.
There are times when I can't find the target at all because I was off to begin with when I pinpointed with
the coil. Its my understanding that the pinpointers are good for about an inch or 1 1/2 inches. Now that I
have worked with the Harbor Frieght PP I'm not sure it gets the full inch. Still, it had worked and I have found
many of the targets.

Hope it works for you.

Robert, I'd try replacing the battery with a new energizer. It must come with a cheap battery. I bought a used V2 and it came with a presumably used duracell battery, was sort of disappointed when it only sounded off when it was right on the coin or metal. Replaced the battery and it made all the difference, a good 1" to 1.5" after that, just a thought.
