When I first read of the modification to the HF pp, I didn't understand why the vibration feature was added. I then read the statute in Washington State that says that people using MDs in state parks must not emit any audible sounds that may bother others using the park.
OK, now I get it.
On another note, my HF pp emits a beep when a force is applied to the tip, perpendicular to the long axis. This means that when using it to comb through the "spoils" from a hole, that bumping into a larger stone or clump of earth will render a false signal. Do you suppose there is a lose connection in the probe, or is this a common and integral part of the design that must simply be tolerated?
