Harbor Freight pin pointer

When I first read of the modification to the HF pp, I didn't understand why the vibration feature was added. I then read the statute in Washington State that says that people using MDs in state parks must not emit any audible sounds that may bother others using the park.

OK, now I get it.

On another note, my HF pp emits a beep when a force is applied to the tip, perpendicular to the long axis. This means that when using it to comb through the "spoils" from a hole, that bumping into a larger stone or clump of earth will render a false signal. Do you suppose there is a lose connection in the probe, or is this a common and integral part of the design that must simply be tolerated?

Elite 2200 (and HF pp)

I would be interested in how that works, what it looks like and the cost. Do you like it?? My whites falses when its bumped also, but not too bad.

Hey flash5153:

Here is the link: http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=97245

I am on the HF email list and get 20$ discount coupons regularly. With the discount, they cost $12.00 with a nylon case included. They have a LED light that helps illuminate the hole.

Hi all,, I also use the Harbor Freight pin pointer,, And don't think i could get along with out it, turn the sen. knob down a little that will help with the false signal
if you are picking coins up more than 1/4 to 1/2 in the sens. is set to high, it will still pick up pop cans an other large objects at about 3 in. coins take on the color of the soil that they are buried in
that makes them very hard to see some times that's why you need it, try turn it down an i think you will find it still works fine,, i have worn a hole in my tip, so i have replaced it,
for the price it can't be beat it works just like your big unit ,,, if the sens set to high it will give false signals,, just wait till you get on a small object like a staple or similar object you will go nuts trying to find it LOL good luck

I've used the HH pinpointer for about a year now.
For the price, $15.00 I think I paid for it, it's saved me lots of time
find my target in the hole or in the soil I excavated from the hole.
You DO have to be right on top of the target however. Its a cheap pinpointer
but I want to get Garretts new one in a few months. I hear you don't have
to actually be right on top of the target touching it.
You can get a nice tumbler to clean your coins from HH for about $29.
The price varies, buts decent. The belts tend to break but you can use
thick rubberbands in place of the belt.
