Harbor Freight pin pointer

parrothead

New member
Went out and bought that elcheapo pin pointer at Harbor Freight the other day.
Now the ground needs to thaw enough for me to hunt.
One ting does worry me about it, it says that I need to wear glasses when changing the battery!!
[sub][/sub]I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS

Reading glasses?
Welding Goggles?
Arc Flash Protection suit?

Best way around it is to have someone else change the battery - a distance away. Be sure you have your back turned to them, best to be in another room. Hold your hands to cover your eyes and hope no arcs are produced or the spring accidentally shoots the battery out and into your eye. I'm surprised they didn't mention gloves and safety boots. Maybe ear plugs too.
This could be a warning sign - that's why I bought a different one. Didn't want it to be too risky.

You can never be to safe and they are aware of this to a point.

That sounds serious !!

I opted for the non-hydrogen fuled pinpointer myself.....Ever see Terminator 3? That is one BAD battery.... HH Joe

OK I have some bad news. While putting the battery in the pin-pointer 4 people were killed and a home destroyed.
I was lucky to escape with my life, but I lost my arms and have to type with my nose.
I will have my MD surgically implanted to I can continue to hunt.
HH

Well now, seriously, I have changed mine several times with no problem and while I happen to wear glasses anyway I think it's irrelevant.
