Happy Easter.

Happy Easter. Hope you all found those hidden goodies that lay hidden from
our sore eyes.

I went back to a samll park that has a few ball fields attached. I hit it really had last
year walking away with a lot of clad and other misc things. It was so nice today I went
back and decided to hit an area I knew to have loads of trash. I decided to prove a point
that others on the different forums have tried to get across: trash can MASK good targets.
And so it was today. In all that junk were a few good targets left that I and other who followed
behind me failed to get because of the junk. The attached photo tells all. It's not a lot of clad
and there could have eaisly have been a ring mixed in there but the point is I and whoever
came behind me, missed these targets. They were there all the time hiding among the junk.

Didn't find any Easter eggs though. Guess no one knew I was coming.

Now I'm going to watch TV and then take a nap.

Sounds like you had a great day of hunting and TV and a nap doesn't get any better than that . congrats
I always rehunt my spots several times and pickens do get slim but I always find some targets I miss and the other people miss . After the easy stuff is gone then I can work on the deeper older items . Happy Easter to you also .

happy easter to all. i just ordered an mxt 300 and some other misc. for my first mding. this forum has been a great help in deciding what to buy. im sure my wife and i will enjoy it as the weather here in southern nh is really starting to warm up. today was almost 80. hey ... you know how the sun pulls nails out of wood siding. is it the same for coins in the ground? after all they are metal also. lol... maybe by the time i get my detector i wont have to dig so deep...ha ha ha ... happy hunting to all

And a Happy Easter to you and everyone else. Sounds like you had a good hunt Katz.

Jacknh, Congrats on ordering your new MXT 300. You're going to love it! Sorry to say, but the coins just get deeper and deeper. But that new MXT will sniff them out!!!!

Again, Happy Easter everyone!

Can't see your attached photo Old Katz?? Except the pussy one... You must have been tired. I couldn't go out at all for Easter. I filled my Honda Accord with fuel at Caltex on Thursday and only got about 300 meters and it stopped. Seems like their fuel was full of water. No car for Easter...

I only use a 950 or 12" coil for about 5% of my detecting when I hit some beaches or lowed fields or similar larger, open, low-target sites. Larger coils will be heavier and tiring for day-long searches, but the are more prone to target masking problems.

For a lot of those types of sites and getting slightly better depth on smaller coin-sized targets I really like the 12". For most hunting, however, I use smaller coils and on the MXT class models there's nothing better than the 5.3 Eclipse. This is a 6

for showing how much trash can be out there to give us fits. :rage: Way to go!

PS: We had a rather wet Easter Sunday but I did manage to hit a few playgrounds between downpours and not only did I nab 73 coins to start the month, I DID find a few Easter Eggs ... they were the foil-wrapped candy type in the woodchips.

Yea, I forgot to say I used the 5.3. My 6x10DD got snagged. I have a good idea who
stole it but I can't prove it. Just have to bite the bullet and get a new one in a few weeks.
In the mean time the 5.3 works really well. I found that setting the sensitivity back to about 7 usually
stopped the hot rock fro frequently popping up.

Seems a pity to have to do it, but a Nikko permanent marking pen is good for writing your name on your coils. Very hard to remove and discourages theft and encourages the return of your coil if someone does find it.
