Happy Easter and digs from yesterday

Hit a spot I pound now and again. I found out a civil war soldier lived there and that it is going to be turned into a historical site, so wanted to get another hunt before it may be off limits. I also wanted to see what the X5 could find that the DFX missed. I opted for the manual GB on the X5 and dug most of the good sounding targets. I did dig some iffy targets too and got the 44 wheatie. The depth on non nickle coins may be less than I would like, as the wheatie was at 6" and didn't give a strong signal. Then again the ground may be so bad that depth on coins is lost anyway. I've done some tests that seem to indicate that non-nickle coin depth is less, but other lower conuctivity targets show great depth compared to the DFX. Either way I'm still learning the machine and like what I see so far.I have noticed that the X5 works really well at sniffing out targets in trash when I sweep at a snails pace and focus on being one with the ground :) The detector has a surprisingly swift response. As for the targets, the toy soldier was at 8-9" and the buffalo at ~ the same depth. The musketball sized find is iron. Today I attended a dinner/Easter egg hunt with my wife and had a blast hiding the eggs and later watching the kids find them. It was funny as could be when the golden egg(a large chocolate egg in gold wrapping ) was located and was half eaten by a squirrel. 3 more platic eggs had also been partially eaten to get to the chocolate and coins inside. I guess squirrels like to find coins also. :)

Have not really tried that. I have been running it b/w 7 and 8. The ground up here is loaded with magnetite so it would make sens. :) to do so. Thanks a bunch for the tip Brian.
