Happy Birthday to my GTI 2500.

While I can't give my poor, old, GTI 2500 a proper birthday gift, I can pay homage to her here. I first swung her exactly three years ago today. According to my detecting spreadsheet my total finds with the old girl since then value:

$6503.30!!!!!!

Here's another of my favorite finds from a few years ago. This was an amazing find because my initials are actually CW! 14K. 9.4 grams. I could wear it but only on my thumb!

Good job Chris...I remember when u were debating on getting one heer on the forum and when u finally did. Wow 3 years already? I think that was just before my move out west. I got my first 2500 in 1999, then sold it in 2003 for rent...then got another one in 2007...was hard to do without it that long.

Nice totals

And a lot of that came from hard work too. I think you have mastered that machine quite some time ago. I always enjoy your posts.

When I joined, you were using your 2500 on that dried out lake bed. My debate over the purchase a 2500 was the shortest in history. I joined in early Sept 2007 and a month later I had my 2500. First trip out I thought I'd made a mistake. Second hunt I was sure that I hadn't. I wish it hadn't taken me 18 months to put the big coil on it for more than 15 minutes.

"Has it paid for itself?" is usually the first question folks who stop to chat with me ask. I answer it like this. "Yeah, I've found enough with it to cover it's original cost, but I still have a detector that functions as well as it did on the day I bought it." I did use treasure found with my Ace 250 to pay for my 2500, so a better question would probably be, "Have you found enough with it to buy your next detector?" Answer: Yes. Many times over. I'm about 95% sure I'll buy an AT-Pro. Had you asked me that a week ago, before I started researching it, I would have written I'm 95% sure I won't be buying an AT-Pro. Not until April, though. I reckon my 2500 will hold out until then.

:usaflag:Chris, do you have a tally of all of your silver finds with the 2500? More specifically coins? Thanks..

That's a hell of a 3 year total. I'll be lucky if I reach that in my lifetime...congratulations !

Yowser Chris! Doesn't sound as if that little 2500 is so old to me...still crankin out the goodies. Still a pup and just gettin started. Like your idea of a logbook.

That's pretty impressive Chris Especially given that you don't have our high value coins! And the ring. What can I say.
Mick Evans.

:usaflag:Chris, I apologize if the silver coin question was a bit personal. I'm just trying to get a perspective on the 2500's abilities. It sounds like a "clad-killer", but I'm more interested in it's knack for old & silver coins. I'm still up in the air about what my next detector is going to be. Thanks

Chris, as a fairly new owner of a GTI2500, I hope I will in three years time be able to come close to gathering as much loot as you have - that's great! Question for you; have you found any web forums that are more focused on owners who use the GTI2500? It seems the focus here is more either Ace or AT Pro. I'd like to find a forum that is specific to the GTI2500 - use tips, experiences, etc. Thanks

Chris

you are amazing!!! Congrats to you ahppy birthday to
