Handicap mobility design project

Due to a disability from e a stroke that paralyzed my left side from which I am slowly recovering, I am about to undertake a project to adapt either a Bounty Hunter Lone Star or Land Star for use with or as a walking cane.

I was thinking on this from two possibilities, either reinforcing the shaft and adding a bottom foot near the coil to use the unit for stability or removing the housing and use that with a neck strap on my chest and then fabricate a clamp to attach a shaft with the coil to a small platform walking cane which can stand by itself.

I am sure there are additional design possibilities and I have no interest in reinventing the wheel, so if anyone has any ideas or experiences to share on something along this line I would be interested.

Thank you.

This is a tough one...thinking depending upon if you have any strength at all on your left side, maybe just another detector bare shaft with your arm through the cuff and strapped in would allow you to use your left side weight for that as a cane?

The other idea you mentioned that may have some merit, and would be easy enough to test out....if you can find a walker and attach your detector so your a coil is angled outfront or even off to the side away from the leg far enough, positioned at the correct height from the ground, maybe just with some zip ties or even black tape, that may work...? That would be easy and not reinventing the wheel...
Good Luck and good on you for thinking this through! It would be great to see some pictures of your invention and finds!:clapping:

Thanks for the ideas, I have a number of concept ideas that I am working on including a separate offset coil mount to a crutch or cane. I intend to post prototype photos here for suggestions and input.
