the water is where the good stuff is!! almost no one hunts in the water there!! all summer while I was there saw only one other person out in the water....and he came with us!! COLD WATER!! Bob and Metaldig hunted there today Metaldig got GOLD! Don you have found some good stuff this season!! keep it up!! We'll see ya sooner or latter!

Didn't make it to Hampton, but hit a few areas near there and had a pretty decent weekend. My camera is still on the fritz, so no pics, but got a couple gold rings, a nice necklace and some pre 1964 silver coins as well as a couple older IH pennies and a buffalo nickel - along of course with a bunch of clad and too much "junk" :)

I have a bunch of vacation time to take before X-mas this year and have an idea on a spot I plan to hit for a half a day or so - with any luck it might turn into a "goldmine" for me for quite some time to come.

I just didn't get out as much as I wanted to in 2007, but it seems to be ending on a high note.

I'm sure I'll run into all you guys now and again during the winter out there.

Happy Holidays and good hunting!

Please don't think I'm disagreeing with you but I have a question. The tide comes in and out twice a day on the east coast. At any given time of day the water will be in different locations on the beach. So when you talk about the good stuff being in the water, are you talking about low tide, high tide or somewhere in between? Or are you talking about when lots of people are at the beach while you're there and so hunting in the water during that time is the most productive? I have always wondered about this. Thanks.

Jerry[/quote] I mean at low tide going out to as deep as neck deep...looking for low spots were lots of stuff has settled. from time to time you hit one of these spots and you clean house!!! HH

Met Don Tyler yesterday at Hampton and had a nice chat. :clapping: I figured he had already been their awhile when he stuttered out a couple of words in the middle of a sentence and said "excuse me, I think my jaw is frozen" He mentioned going a little south that day and maybe bumping into Beachhunter, I don't know if he did, but I do know that he was heading to the car for a little warm up.
I didn't do well yesterday or today but both days were definitely warmer than the Saturday before and there was very little wind so my scoop wasn't being blown into my leg these last two hunts. Yesterday got about 45 cents, a hand full of tabs, and some can slaw. Today I decided since we're sanded in so bad up here, I would do some beach cleaning. So I went tab hunting and Scored Big for about 3 hours of hunting. 64 tabs and 67 cents for my effort, Yeah.
I sure hope we get one of those storms that I keep hearing about that moves the sand and allows us to get down to where the heavy stuff is, because this light stuff is starting to get old. :pulltab: Now I here the sounds of tabs in my sleep. I think, I have forgotten what Silver & Gold sound like. I am not going to give up this winter, but I do have to send my Explorer SE back to :minelab: to fix a problem it has had since day one. I just don't want to let it go. The problem is whenever I use the backlight, after a little while the screen splits right up the middle. What a mess it looks like, need to shut it off and turn it back on to continue hunting. Well this might be a good time to send it in. My fingers are crossed for the STORMS and I hope all the Polar Bear Hunters do well this winter after the STORMS finially arrive.:twodetecting:

All in all I don't think the thread really gave away very much information in this case. I've seen lots worse in other threads where photos are shown that clearly identify locations. All that was basically said is that hunting out in the water can lead to more targets if you find the right area - and I mentioned that I did well hunting N and S of Hampton - I didn't say anything at all about how far N or S so that's left up to interpretation - I regularly hit the shores of Maine to the N as well as Nantasket/Hull to the S, so that's a pretty huge area :)

It's nice to see all you New Englanders on one topic. I'm glad you people are close enough to the beach to get out there and find the winter treasure. I don't think there's anything to worry about as far as giving out locations. The New England beach coast has enough treasure for everyone. Even if we all got together at one time we still couldn't clean it all out as it would get replenished again. That's the fun and beauty of this sport. Say, do we qualify as 'Athletes"?

If possible, maybe some time next summer we could get together and meet on one of the beaches. That ought to drive the tourists nuts wouldn't you think? :detecting:

I was a member of Granite State Treasure Hunters Club in 2006. At some point late in the year however I just decided a club just wasn't "for me" and didn't rejoin. I'm sure we'll cross paths again out there somewhere.

Happy Holidays

Hey Bob, why don't we all just not tell each other ANYTHING, then we won't need the forum at all. No need for pictures, tech talk, comparing machine settings...we can all just be loners and horde everything all to ourselves.

Maybe even plant a penny every time we dig a good target, just to throw off the other hunters.

I have already been to Maine, Old Orchard and south to Cape Cod. Maybe we do need some Outdoor Pictures, with Smiles too.:poke::crylol:

Since all the North folks are here I thought I'd wish you all a Merry Christmas. I'm done woods hunting till spring. I hunt from Hampton to York a few times during the winter months for something to do. I have not been on the forums much lately. I found three deep greenie quarters and nickels on my two hour Sunday afternoon hunt in Hampton. It was sanded in pretty nicely. Good luck everyone this winter.
