Half penny? need id help

Darren(Va)

New member
My dad found this coin any help on ID would be greatly appreciated! This coin is the same size as a large cent and we belive it to be a MACHIN'S MILLS HALFPENNY [attachment 24457 101_0030.jpg]

It could very well be a MACHIN'S MILLS HALFPENNY. But unless you had some sufficient details on the coin, it might be too hard to tell between MACHIN'S HALFPENNY and the British Type.

Just my thoughts, though not the expert.

What does the back look like, Could it be a 1773 Virginia half penny?

Is Darren still even around?

Lt4ever, you're really digging into the archives now! (I thought you were responding to earlier posts before!) I've been reading them too be refraining from responding, partially because I haven't seen a post from many of the earlier posters since I've been paying attention lately.

If Darren is still around, what's the diameter and weighter of the coin?
