Half Day Hunt - Marginal Results...

Got out today to some spots I had hit before. Could not manage a silver coin but did score a quarter of an ounce sterling religious medal. Also got 4 wheats and a large old military coat button. I found a little ornament of some type which I initially though might be silver but it failed the acid test. It is light flexible metal with what appears to be a head on the top with some design work on the sides. I thought it might be a broken ring but then I noticed ends had not been broken. Perhaps it is a clasp of some type...

Does anyone know?

I've seen inexpensive rings that looked very much like what you have pictured, rounded ends and all. The Idea was they could be made to fit all, or most all, finger sizes. Normally when you received one it wasn't flattened out though.
Likely source would have possibly been out of a Cracker Jack box or maybe a breakfast cereal box prize.

Yep, sure looks like a cheap ring that you can size to fit anybody. Some of the old ones are collectable. The military button isn't that old, BTW NEVER send religeous metals in to melt. You can make premium money for them off the auction site. Silver is silver no matter what form. Nice

Looks good to me .. I'd give my right arm to cut a plug this time of year. Got at least a month to go ... congrats !!

Anytime I cam swing the coil is a great day for me,never know about that ring?silver's coming tomorrow...HH
