Just came home from a trip to Florida. I needed the Nox to prove itself by finding some small gold chain or earring stud. Sorry to say, not one piece of gold to date.

Came home and had thoughts that this was it for the Nox. No gold in 3 weeks of hunting.
I was never an Explorer person because I never liked all the orchestra sounds and weight was too much for me to handle. Nox solved the weight issue but I still dont like all the extra tones even though Im only using 5 tones. Pinpointing is terrible without using the pinpoint button which for me, would be too time consuming. However, I have tried to deal with these issue and persevere.

Beach conditions finally became good during a storm while away. Targets here and there and finally the 1st gold ring with the Nox shows up. It has a weird stamp inside and Im not sure if its said 18K or makers mark.
Its defintely gold but karat is tough to discern without a test. Has that nice buttery gold color, so I think its at least 18k. Nox is 1/2 paid for and we'll see what the future holds.

Donna,

NICE ring!

Not sure why you are having trouble pinpointing with your Equinox. Mine is SPOT on, most times, without using the pinpoint button. Only targets "on edge" throw it off; otherwise, I've found it to be REALLY easy to pinpoint with...

In any case, hope it does a better job for you, going forward -- now that it has found a gold ring for you!

Very nice Donna,

Congratulations!

Im with Steve....... PPing on the Nox is pretty close to outstanding......wiggle back and targets should be right on the TIP of the coil. You must be running crazy high sensitivity producing an extra large coil HALO and all that chatter. Do you have anyone in your area with a Nox? Sometimes it takes time to know if a NEW to them machine is working correctly.

Nice going Donna, congrats! I've been in Florida since January and with the contacts I have here and my own experience gold has been really elusive. Some areas are sanded in and it is "off season". My gold and most of the silver this year came from Mexico in February, 5 rings (2 gold) and 3 (silver) chains using a PI. In Florida I've hunted with my Excal, PI and Nox. One silver ring chest deep in a trough from Sand Key Fl. with a marquis stone (not diamond) and some gold over silver to highlight it. I did find an area off shore at one beach that I began pulling up really deep coins with my PI from soft muck and seagrass. Too bad I have to cut out to go back north in a day or two...because I think of how tough the spot is to work that there is gold hiding. The Nox is deep, almost PI depth but without wired waterproof cans I couldn't work that spot with it. BT earbuds were fine water hunting until the Nox's housing is submerged. Pinpointing with the Nox is spot on, often I don't use the PP but the controls are easy access. Im hoping there is some gold left after my friends hammered the beaches once the storms passed over.
Stay with it the Nox, if you decide it's not for you it's an easy sell...I may want another!
