Had to send it back

Just last week I was counting my blessings on having received "one of the good ones". Yesterday I went to a nearby park , turned the machine on, selected my mode, ground balanced it, and did several passes -nothing. Hmmm, that's strange. I put down a dime and passed the coil over it - nothing. I pulled the batteries and inserted new ones - nothing. I disconnected and reconnected the coil cable- nothing. On top of that, my two-week old Pro-pointer started giving me trouble. It wouldn't stop chirping or wouldn't turn on or wouldn't turn off. Sounds like a switch problem.
The good news: I called Garrett and talked to a very friendly Sue in the repair dept. She said to send them both in and they'll have me up and running in no time.
I did go back to the park with my Fisher 1280-x but the pickings were much slimmer than when I hit it with the Pro last week. When I get the Pro back, I'm going over the same area and will let you know if I find things the Fisher missed.

Thanks Tom. It sounds dumb of me but I had used it for about 6 hours total and never even thought about changing the battery in it but you may be right. No telling how long it was on the shelf. Where in the Adirondacks are you?
