my second oldest, and the most valueable coin so far , I got out for 2 hours and was darn near skunked with just clad and one wheat when I heard what I believed to be a coin, it was lying under a tinfoil wad and between two broken nails, I dug out the foil and the sound got fairly crisp, I was nearly in schock when I saw what I had unearthed...A 1869 seated quarter no mint mark (which is good in this case) .........mintage on this coin is only 16,000 what a great day...I love the sovereign..............I do see an s mintmark now after staring at the picture of the coin still a decent find just not as valueable as i had first hoped

Bloody awsome mate you are the man! Congratz! Goodluck on your next finds.
Cheers!

I would love to say it was 17 inches deep, but it was about three or four inches deep, after I dug it I rechecked the area and the threshold was just nulling out so I switched to AM and found two bent up rusty nails right on either side of where the coin was, it was a case of just taking my time and working slow. It has been said many many times but you really need to go slow and when the threshold nulls out you need to make sure you are at a slow enough pace to let it reset before continuing to swing, this coin could have easily been missed , and there is no doubt I woulda missed it if I was going any faster. So go slow and listen carefully to the tone changes. And I would also like to thank Rick ND , because in the beginning he took the time to help me out and give me some real solid advice, I believe that made me really want to succeed as a metal detectorist. So thanks to Him and everyone else that has been kind enough to take the time to share there experiences. Take care .................

So many people give up without getting to know the Sovereign as they don't have the patience, but people like you that have the patience to make it works and get these great finds to see what I am talking about give me almost as much pleasure as actually finding the good coin myself, like I say ALMOST!!!

Good luck Adam

as you know I was baffled in the begining, I guess its a good thing the sovereign is soooo good , because even while trying to figure it out I was still finding just enough to keep my interest up . I can see why people give it up, I often felt the multi tones were really annoying and the iron falses and mystery blips were driving me nuts , Now I relize what the machine is capable of and just how to understand it ''language'' .Thanks again and I hope you stay in good health and make some solid finds this year .......

Very nice! Sweet find. You da man!

Those are nice finds Adam. Even the wheaties. The Sovereign GT proves that a job done slow is a job done well. You have inspired me to get off my lazy butt and do some hunting today.
