So I have been fairly lucky with my AT Pro. This is the first metal detector I have ever owned. So I was expecting a lot of firsts. Well my first time out it found an Eisenhower dollar. And every time after I have found no less than 50 cents for a few hours hunts. However, my buddy seemed to be a silver magnet. His first time out testing his MXT in his yard yielded him 2 walking liberty halves, a silver FFA ring and a 1/2 ounce silver broach. I have yet to find any silver with my AT, but I will keep trying. However, my buddy has not found any gold with his machine. And today marked a double first for me, my first ring and first GOLD!
I had dug 46 penny's in a super trashy area. I had to set my machine to highs only there was so much noise. After digging all those penny's I decided I had just about had enough. My batteries were almost dead, down to two bars and the pinpoint had ceased to work. I saw an old baseball ball field, and thought what the heck. So I walked over and set my machine to zero descrim. I figured there wouldn't be too much trash in a ball field. Started swinging around home plate and made it about half way to the pitchers mound. I had dug about three beaver-tails when it hit. A solid 41 on the VDI and a nice strong unbroken tone. I gotta dig this. Man-o-man was that ground hard. No rain for months, no irrigation and no field maintenance. I pulled a hand full of dirt clods out and ran it past the coils. Heard the tone and rolled the clods around. Then I saw it. a gold colored crucifix. Got is home and cleaned it up to find a 14K ring. It probably weighs a gram.
