Snuck outta the house to go hit a place jkline got permission for, its a 100 yr old home that has 7 apartments in it now. Anyway, other than a couple square nails in really good shape we didnt get anything exciting.
Went across to the university and figured I would see how close to the EMI Hell Zone I could get. Didnt make it that far……
Parked the car and started towards that area, might as well detect to and from, right?
Legend hit a solid nickel number (27-28 and repeatable and said deep, game on! Hit a couple tree roots and the handheld was telling me it was under it, crap. Expanded the hole, went down again and then back under. Bingo, round nickel at 8” exactly. Got it out and its a Buff! I could see 35 on it so yippee a dated Buff!
Had limited time remaining so scanned around the nickel for any buddies hanging out and no. Started a zigzag walk towards the car and got a nice 43 signal. Took me a bit to find it in the plug I pulled out but it was rectangular whatever it was. Knocked enough wet dirt out of it to finally see “U.I.” and a pin on the back (there was no safety clasp, rather a hook to catch the sharp end so thinking definitely older).
Nothing spectacular and I kept getting interrupted by pesky kids texting me a Happy Fathers Day. But I really wouldn’t have it any other way……
