Had to compare our Fors CoRe machines.....

OregonGregg

Well-known member
I just recently got a new Fors CoRe machine and Monte just acquired another Fors CoRe machine and being they are somewhat hybrids we met up at Jack n Box for lunch and had to compare them.

Monte's Fors CoRe machine has golden rods and I got the Caterpillar edition. Something different to get away from all black machines. My MXT Pro, M6, Classics are all blk. So something different.

Now the long long wait for Spring so we can get out and play with them..............

I have seen the champagne colored rods that go with the Fors Gold machines and I assume they are interchangeable with a CoRe or one would suspect. Should have no bearing there. However, never saw the Caterpillar yellow like you have!!!!

As for my new-to-me FORS CoRe, I have to thank Steve Herschbach for advertising his 'hybrid' FORS CoRe which I very abruptly was pleased to snap up! As you commented, the rod color for the FORS Gold and FORS Gold + use the attractive non-black color scheme for the middle and upper rods as well as the arm cup. Housings are the same and mount the same way, handle is the same, and both the FORS CoRe and original FORS Gold operate at the same 15 kHz and share the same search coils. Similar performance except the FORS CoRe has the added COG or Beach mode.

I have been considering doing this very thing when I spotted Steve's Classified ad and couldn't resist and early Christmas present for .. ME! :clapping:

OregonGregg, on the other hand, must have an acute case of cabin fever and set out to consider different colors for his do-it-yourself project, and the Caterpillar color he selected was excellent. It actually looks better when held in your hand than viewed in a photo, it is that impressive. I complement Gregg on his weekend strip (the rods) and re-paint. I suggested he ought to get a paint shop of his own and start a how-to-kill the winter blues business.

I can see it now ----

Gregg's Detector Hybridizing Service

That ought to keep him busy during his mostly down-time winter months. :)

Ok that answers that! I thought I missed out on something from Nokta as to being able to select color schemes. I have thought of getting the champagne colored rod and s-rod/handle for the CoRe to be different. I guess I could with the fact I am trying to piece together a whole rod system for the smaller coil alone to do a quick change of the box when in the field rather than unwinding the search coil's coil then putting on the smaller coil. Hey, you guys have given me maybe the incentive to be different!

WOW! Jack in the Box. Man I miss those super taco's they had as We haven't had one around here since the 80's. Any ways with El nino I'm still diggin' as ground isn't froze yet and I'm warm blooded as long as it is 40 and above I'm detectin'.

You are right ole Harold Ill. Jack In The Box came to Middle Tennessee about 10 years ago. Love about 6 of those tacos after a long day of hunting. Can't beat it...

By the way, what are they going to do with your famous Mayor? Heard Chicago is on burn alert...

It's been wintry cold, some snow off-and-on, and way more rain that I enjoy, but it looks like a break is coming for a couple of chilly days.

Oregon Gregg and I are going to try and get some Relic Hunting in on Monday at a site I have never hunted, and I'll be working my 'Hybrid' FORS CoRe against the new FORS Gold + as I continue my evaluation of the Gold + for Relic Hunting to the proven CoRe. No access to any gold nugget hunting places until weather improves in spring, or if I take an adventurous journey south to start the new year, so I'm ready to hunt in my favorite detecting activity.

So far I have been impressed with how the Gold + is performing, but some head-to-head with the CoRe, which has proven its abilities to me to be my primary-use detector, is going to be fun ... and 'fun' is a vital part of his outdoor sport.

The sad thing is if that would have been a White Man who got shot 16 times nobody would have said a word! NUFF SAID.
