i pulled this out of the ground  i didnt realize the date till i got home. i thought it was a nickel from the size and when i started to clean it the date eventually popped out and i was upset i was rubbing it. i cant id it using the web and was wondering if you guys could help.

this thing is such a big upgrade from the ace350

Nice find, Looks like a 1907 V-nickel. It's to bad nickels don't hold up to the elements that great. The ones I find are usually pretty corroded.

Yup...V-Nickel...They sure do end up toasted most of the time...Especially if the ground has been fertilized...:sadwalk:
Great Find!

HH,

Congrats on the V-nickel! Still waiting to find my first with the AT-Pro. How deep was she? HH

thanks a lot guys. she was about 6-8inches down in some red clay like soil. went out today to a spot that has been pounded for 20+ years and i was able to pull two 3ringers, musketball, and an old peice of costume jewelry. my friend(mentor) was really impressed with the machine also, hes a nautilus guy but hes thinking about getting rid of his tesoro to try out the at pro. his dmc2b did find a very nice carved bullet though

CLR works well to clean up corroded nicks, leave it in for a few days. Thats if you want to clean it. I have done a few V's with CLR and it works so that you can see it better.

nice, i was just about to get that but my mom insisted on tarnex(?) i didnt use it on the nickel though because i wasnt sure if it would hurt it or not

Nice find with the V nickel there. I would advise NOT using Tarnex, or any other cleaner on any old coins. You were right by leaving it alone.
