Had some surprising results with the CZ3D

Monday afternoon I took the CZ3D out for a little while to go hunt beaver tails. I have this one area where I dig a lot of beaver tails. This particular area doesn't have any reason to have this concentration of round pull tabs when you look at it today, however, a little research showed that it once looked different.

Anyway, I went there to hunt beaver tails. On my F5, most of these beaver tails read as nickels. I was surprised to see that they responded as Foil on my CZ3D in both the enhanced mode and the salt mode. I recovered a handful and most of them were foil signals. My pocket test nickel read as nickel in both modes. I was kinda happy about this in one aspect as they didn't give a high coin tone, and a bit sad in another aspect as I dig foil signals.

Beaver tails read in the foil zone in most units of course there are various types which could alter your readings..In other words a beaver tail is not a beaver tail depending on the manufacturer as have seen various types and some areas of the U.S. basically have one type...so get to know the type from your area as they will read alike and help to learn where the fall on your metered unit...

Stoopstroop, please don't hunt them. Leave them for Mike and me.

We like to dig foil.

PS They show up right where many gold engagement rings and small bands show up. Lots of them means that nobody has dug for foil at that location; that there was activity that included at least the actions of pulling a tab and tossing it; and that action can sometimes cause a nice little ring to go flying too.

Last weekend I got a little 10K band that weighed all of 0.9 grams. About $17 melt value of a target that ID's just like those tails, so please don't dig them!

Years ago Fisher did a comparison test on several hundred gold rings and about 1/3 came in at the foil range...So dig all that foil as the area just below nickle will just about include all thin womens gold rings some with nice stones...Two of my best find a 1kt diamond ring and a 16 small diamond party ring from the turn of the century came in dead foil. A foil to nickle bounce has also got me a couple of nice gold rings. Find an area with lots of nickles or beavertails and you know the guys or gals before you just took the high coins and moved on so be extra vigilant in this area...

no!..they was lookin' for "rings!"

(h.h.!)
