I was not going to post in the forum but low and behold no one was home when I got home from the morning hunt, so I grabbed something to eat and a quick shower and headed back out. I got a Quarter signal with my newest detector the Whites Eagle Spectrum. I was shocked because it was such a clear signal that I was expecting a clad quarter. Today was a slow uneventful day up to this point. It was nice to see the merc dime in the hole in place of the clad quarter. She is a last year 1945 mercury dime. Mud hopefully you made it out and got your gold HH everyone. 2 for 2 with the Whites Eagle Spectrum just got it last Friday and got silver both times out. Fun detector always been a fan of whites just waited for the right time to buy. Again HH all enjoy!

Agreed, it feels like a waisted hunt when there is no silver involved. The only thing that makes up for a it is about a fourty quarter hunt lol. Not knowing the capacity of battery on the Eagle Spectrum was my learning curve today. The battery low came on the detector after using it for about a hour today. This was the second hunt with this battery pack. I had to return it to the truck and take out the other brand detector. The one that doesn't blast through as much battery. Any how took the Whites Eagle Spectrum back out later in the afternoon to nail the merc. I don't know what it is about those mercs they must be a more illusive coin because I have found more of those than Rossies. I feel like all the bigger coins are gone because they are obviously bigger targets. I have found about 6 or silvers in this park and they have all been dimes and of that seven five were mercs. The first was a seated dime but the date was unreadable. HH thanks for the reply.

Agree on the Mercs. I hunted a hunted out park years back. and believe me it has been hit extremely hard over the years. I got a whisper of a signal at 7-8 inches and guess what popped out, a merc! I think you're right about the quarters, but they're still around. Last year I hunted an old sled riding site I used as a kid, and its been around a lot longer than that, and I found a Franklin half. I know this site has been hit numerous times over the years. They're still there, we just gotta pass the coil over them. I guess "keep after it" is a good motto, or the one I like the most from the best treasure hunter ever, Mel Fisher, "Today's the Day"! Happy Swinging...

Nice coin, great detail. I started out with the Eagle Spectrum in 1991, was using it right up to January of this year. I just got too old (all right, out of shape LOL). I couldn't swing it longer than a half hour, I bought a new unit, much lighter. Not sure it finds metal any better than the 20 year old technology. Artie
