Had my MXT two weeks. In Love!

Well I've been out with my MXT about five or six times in the last couple of weeks and have fallen in love with this machine! I've worked two parks here in Rapid City that have absolutely been worked to death. I found almost five-hundred coins, one ring and one necklace. Believe it or not I didn't find a single wheat back or a single silver coin! Bummer

I'm using the 950 coil that came with it. I have ordered an Excelerator 5" from Kellyco. When I get the new coil I'm going to rework the parks as there is so much trash and hoping for better target separation.

Ron,
Depending on the trash as the 6X10 is what we use most of the time on our MXT and we do dig some deep coins in with moderate trash. In heavy trash I find the 4X6 mini shooter is hard to beat and I would have to see that 5 inch Excellerator beat it up here in North Dakota to beleive it.
Sounds like you are getting the feel of the MXT with all the new coins you are finding and ready to move to the next step, that is finding the deeper coin now that you have taken the surface coins out of the way.
Like I say my wife is digging some deeper ones now with the 6X10 coil in moderate trash as last week she got a nice smaller silver ring at 7 inches and I have went 12 inches on a old house key.
Good luck and keep learning as you are using this great detector as it can do the job.
Rick

Just remember to use a slower sweep in the trashier sites, especially with a smaller coil. I had a few 3x6 'Shooter" coils and they were good, but the 5" EXcelerator bested them all. Very good separation and very good depth, too. Pinpointing is a dream.
Matter of fact, since I hunt trashier sites and renovation sites the most, I keep the 5" EXcelerator mounted and only go to the larger coils when needed.

Just waiting for the coil!!!!! I guess things might be held up from Kellyco. The hurricane has pretty much put a damper on shipments. Ron

Ron,The Hurricane is not the problem right now on delivery of the 5" coil. I have had one on order for over a week and they said they are waiting for a shipment to come in. On friday I called again and they said the shipment came from japan. Hummmmm I thought they were hand made by Kellyco?????? They were very helpful and said to call back next wednesday and if they were in by then they could get mine out in time for my vacation trip to the North Carolina beach week after next. I'm still using the coil your using and I always hunt trashy areas. Takes a while and the search is slow....I think I'm doing okay...still finding nice finds. Can't wait to get my smaller coil (hopefully this week).
Good luck to you and search vacant lots!!

Hope I get mine soon also. It's going to get cold here before you know It! Guess I'll have to "hunker down" for winter or go visit my daughter in Florida!
