Had high hopes...

Saw this site on a drive home and thought it would be great. Unfortuneately the locals must have thought a run down log cabin was a great place for a dump. I couldn't even detect most of it since there were cast iron pipes all over the place. I did manage a horse shoe when I was searching the surrounding woods. it was still nice to get out and I hope to find some new places close to home before spring comes.

I live right in the middle of a section of sand that starts in Albany and continues north, I think it is called the Pine Bush glacial something or other. Even large chunks of iron sink down fast. The place was nasty.

I hear ya, but hope I find a better spot close by. :) I'll have to do alot of clearing and the whole area is sand and marsh. It's more of a landfill now. It sure looked good from the road :) I checked any high spots and walked a lot of woods around it, but no goodies yet.
