I was hunting for a bit today at an old park in town, when an older lady walking two dogs stopped to talk to me. I chatted with her for awhile, and she told me a few interesting things about the park -- where some older things used to be that are no longer there. As we talked, she told me how she lived a couple of blocks from the park, and owned a small home plus a couple of adjacent lots, and how she has found old tokens and stuff sometimes, working in the dirt of her property. She then said "it would be interesting for you to bring your machine to my house and see what's in the ground..." I couldn't believe my ears! She ended up giving me her address and phone number, and told me I could come by and hunt any time!
I checked online, and while her home is not that old -- built in 1950, she told me of an old barn on an adjacent lot that she owns, and I also noted that the neighbor's houses are older (mid-1930s). Not sure if this will amount to anything, but it sounds like there is at least some potential. I can honestly say this is the first time (and probably the last!) that a stranger, out of the blue, OFFERED for me to hunt their yard! That sure beats knocking on doors and asking for permission!
