Had an odd issue with the AT Pro today

I arrived at my local park, geared up, turned the machine on and the coil wouldn't register any metal targets. The machine was quiet as could be. I took off the 5x8 coil and connected the 8x11 coil. Fired the machine up and again, nothing. After a few curse words, I popped out the battery pack and put it back in, turned the machine back on and it started working. I disconnected the 8x11 coil, reconnected the 5x8, turned the machine on again and it worked no problem. Has anyone had this happen before? My machine is out of warranty and I was afraid I was going to have to send it in for repairs on my dime. I hunted with it for 2 hours without any further issues. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks and HH!

Sounds like it was some issue with the battery pack. After you put it back in it started performing. It may have not been fully seated is my best guess.

Call Garretts and tell them the problem . I had the same problem and called Garretts and the lady on the phone sent me 2 new battery holders. I have not had any problems after that. GS

Don't be afraid to send it in on "your dime". Garrett is standup folks and you will be surprised by them every time. I have sent machines in to them that I bought second hand and years out of warranty and the most I ever paid was for shipping one way.

Sounds like the battery holder. I always do the tongue test to see if the connections are lined up or a battery might be reverse polarity. If there is no power, I double check my battery's polarity and turn each battery to see make sure a good contact is made. If still no power, I often times give the battery holder a slight twist, which often times fixes the problem.flat. Also, make sure the springs are making contact and are not compressed flat.
