Had an Issue with Discriminate

Buried Crap NJ

New member
Trying to resolve an issue that cropped up a 3 hunts ago. I have spend some time trouble shooting and can't seem to figure the cause. I was hunting in discriminate with a basic beach screen and 12-38 was rejected in a 3x3. My first issue was a 35-46 with a nice high tone coming in. I had first thought I had an open screen and switched it back. The next target was a the same 35-46 and this time I took a better look I was now in the open screen. I switched back to discriminate and still had a tone with a 35-46 confused by this I turn the detector off and back on,. This had no affect on the issue.
I continued to hunt and was finding targets other than the 35-46 which is a 5p nail! all of a sudden it dawned on me to just discriminate the 35-46 out. The very next time I did just that, when I hit the reject/accept button the greyed area turn white well that's the proof that it was rejected and now accepted. I re hit the button and back it went to grey and so did the tone response! Now I had the same red triangle but no tone. Now the questions. Why was I getting a good reading on a every nail with a red triangle in discriminate? Should I have a concern here? I do know that a bad target will bleed through if it has rusted enough. But this tends to be a chirp broken signal. Also now is this just a temporary fix that I just rejected it? And while I am asking whats the eases way to get rid of a rejected target? Do I have to put the same corroded penny back on the ground? I know I can go in the edit and do it by moving the cursor to the spot but that seems so time consuming. Thanks for the help.

Hello BC..

I think we need your disc patterns to try and resolve this one.....can you copy /photograph them from such details downloaded to your

exchange-2 program?.......

Remember one thing.....The VDI pair displayed ONLY represent the 'peak' VDI of any target,

but in real-time that value has 'adjacent'.. or....approaching the target values.

For example... at 80% of its eventual 100% value, (say 100% = 12- 35), the VDI may be 12-30 > 31 > 32...So if you had only 12-33/12-34/12-35 Rejected...

then the 12-30/12-31/12-32 Accept would allow some tonal break-through........does that scenario make sense?............Matt

It was the basic beach program as factory sent the only other discrimination was a 3x3 at 12-38 I think line 15 and below is all dicriminated out ?
