Got a chance to hunt with Dav Z today and had a blast. He showed me a bunch about my detector and I even found I had the shaft put together backwards :) It was the first time I got to hunt with someone who had a DFX so I got some good pointers, and enjoyed the company, anyway I found my first pre 1900 quarter and found a cool button. Have good one and hope the pics turn out well.

You probably know all this Keith, but here are a few and some of mine
Ac sens 75-80
Dc sense 45-50
preamp 4
disc accept -40- +94
bc reject 1
sweep speed 1
hot rock reject 6
tone id :eek:n
icons: off
recovery speed: 20 or less, if more trash, raise to 25-29

This is a real sensitive program so can be unstable at times so you may need to use 15KHz and this may quiet it down. Remember to double grnd. balance. Also if hunting around brush use mixed mode or trigger pulled to hear deep targets or those that might be under brush or in areas difficult to get a clean coil sweep then release trigger and re sweep.

If in an area where you get a lot of interference. I sometimes start with the coin program, accept neg. 40- pos. 94. Turn on VCO, and tone I.D. Set sweep speed and recovery to above, DC sense to 40, preamp 3, and AC to 70.
I then hunt for a while and if stable I turn AC up a few #'s and see if it is stable. You can raise preamp also but in many areas 4 is unstable and will bug the heck out of you as will too high an AC sens. The actual speed you physically sweep is up to you. I like to sweep slow and overlap alot. Sometimes you have a lot of trash in the ground and have to sweep just right to hear that nice high pitched coin sound. Sometimes you may need to sweep faster when over a possible target. Deep targets sometimes give a better respnse if this fast sweep is used. I now use a combination of both. Hope this helps a bit and for DFX users, you can ask questions out on the DFX users classroom.
